Why it's interesting
Max Bill's 1961 dial at its original 34 mm, but self-winding and with a date: the most practical way into the design. The white dial with pale grey strokes and a sand-coloured strap is softer than the usual silver-and-black, and suits it.

All specs from junghans.de: 34.0 mm, 10.0 mm, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, 5 bar, calibre J800.1 (38 h), date, matt white dial with luminous dots and hands, calf leather strap, €1,325 in Junghans's German shop. Junghans says the Kleine Automatic brings the 1961 original's 34 mm size to a self-winding max bill but gives no launch year. Lug-to-lug and lug width are not published, hence partial. Drawing: the long radiating strokes and the fine minute track are drawn with the minimal index style.
