There was no budget for a watch, so the producer Albert Broccoli is said to have taken his own Submariner off and handed it over. It stayed on Bond through From Russia with Love and Goldfinger, and taught everyone that a dive watch goes with a dinner jacket.
On the wrist: Ref. 6538 'Big Crown', on a leather strap
The story of Broccoli lending his own watch is repeated by every specialist source but rests on no primary document. The watch on screen is not in dispute.

The watches above are the closest references in the bezelga catalogue, not the pieces that were on the wrist — those are named in each entry. Nothing here implies that Sean Connery endorsed anything, and no photographs of anyone are reproduced: every page on bezelga uses our own drawings of the watches.
